Who Goes To UtahSpeedDating.com Events?
Actually, everyone does! Because of our unique personal profile matching methodology, we have great success in creating events that are tailor made to the individuals who will be attending. The majority of our participants are busy professionals and students–people who value their time and don’t have much of it.

Like most of our participants, you have little trouble building a relationship with someone you know but simply don't have the time to meet people in the first place! Our events solve this dilemma by helping you meet many new people in a short time and in a fun, no pressure way. The bottom line is that everyone who comes to UtahSpeedDating.com™ is interested in finding someone they're compatible with. And they want to do it in a safe, comfortable, efficient and dignified manner. UtahSpeedDating.com™ events are open to all singles although on occasion we have special events for people desiring to meet those sharing a similar affinity, interest or background.

Will I meet people of all ages?
At times we will host what we call Mega-Events which allow individuals from several age groups and special interests to meet and mingle. These are very rewarding events because participants usually have twice as many "mini-dates" as our more specialized events. They are are also very high energy events that more often than not remind you of a large party.

Our specialty, however, is in hosting events that are age and demographically targeted. Most of our UtahSpeedDating.com™ events support a 10 year or less age range which can change from week to week helping to ensure repeat speed-daters have an opportunity to meet new people each time. For example, one night we may host 22-32 year old or 43-53 year old age groups and the next night we might have 18-25, 26-36 or 45-55 age groups. We've found that most people want to meet others that are close to their age. However, we also make special arrangements for people who desire to meet significantly older or younger people.

How many people can I expect to meet in a night?
Typically 8 to 10 (and sometimes as many at 16). It's not too few and not too many. Instead of spending 15+ hours in 10 blind dates, you can have 10 mini-dates in only an hour or so! Our minimum participant threshold is 6 men and 6 women for a session but most events usually facilitated introductions for at least 8 to 10. Any more than 16 it simply too tiring and too hard to remember everyone!

What if there's only a few people there?
This shouldn't happen. We know how many people are registered before event day. Fortunately, our events are very popular and nearly always sell out.

Our Attendance Guarantee:
If for whatever reason we have 6 or fewer pairings or 6 or fewer of one gender, we will make it up by offering an EVENT CREDIT to a future event. We know how critical attendance is to the success of speed dating events and your experience at our events. That's why, unlike our competitors, we have an attendance guarantee. By having minimum turnout standards, you're guaranteed to meet enough people to give you a good chance of getting one or more matches. We have an exceptional record!

How long does a session take?
Due to the fact that most events are sold out, we usually have 2 sessions, one before the other. Each session will have a specific age range and/or interest group. Each session takes about an hour and a half to two hours to complete.

How much time do I have to talk to someone?
Typically 6-9 minutes per person. We'll let you know how much time you have before we start the event.

Six to nine minutes doesn't seem like a lot of time, is it enough?
Remember, you're not on a date...you are speed-dating. It is a great way to see if you'd be interested in a full date or just more conversation later. Sometimes 6 minutes is way too long (wink!) or 9 minutes may be way too short! . But in 6 minutes most people can tell if there's chemistry there, if they are attracted to the person, and if they want to know more. At that point they would indicate on their MatchSheet who they would like to see again and hopefully the other person will do the same!

What should I talk about?
You'll see that once you start the event, everything just flows. There is no pressure and no awkwardness. We keep the event going and upbeat. We even facilitate what you and your partner will begin talking about. After the introductory "conversations starters", you are free to talk about anything you wish. The possibilities are endless but relax and try not to be too serious, just have fun. Try to avoid the more mundane questions like "what do you do" and "where are you from" as this can be repetitive. Try to stand out and differentiate yourself from the others. And if you are sitting across from someone you're not attracted to, please remember that they still have a story to tell.

I've attended before, how do you make sure I don't meet the same people?
Good question and a valid concern especially since many people return to participate in our events. We diligently seek to ensure that anyone who has attended our events in the past will meet new people every time. We do this by reviewing past attendance patterns and matching new attendees with returning daters.

How should I dress for the event?
It's your call! We recommend that you dress for success (what ever that means to you!). Seriously, many people come directly from work so you'll see business casual or even a suit or two. If it's a later event session people might be dressed down. Come to be comfortable, look good, and get noticed!

How many events can I RSVP for at one time?
As part of our No-Flake Factor™ policy, we limit speeddating event RSVPs to no more than two events at a time. This assures that you will not be limited from "RSVP"ing for events you would like to attend due to excessive registration by a small group of members. Once you attend one event you can then RSVP for a new event up to your limit of two.

How does the matching process work?
When you arrive at the event you will receive a MatchSheet which will have listed the first name and an identification number of each of the participants for your event. During the event, simply circle the name and number of the people you want to meet again. After the event, log onto your Membership Benefits Gateway page on the UtahSpeedDating.com web site, select your event date/location on your MatchSmart™ page and after the list of attendees comes up on your screen, select the thumbnail profiles of the individuals you wish to meet again. Click on the Display Matches tab and our MatchSmart™ software will find your matches from among those who attended your event.

How long does it take before I get my matches?
That depends entirely on how fast you and your speed dating partners enter your match information. We highly recommend that every participant enter their match information within 24 hours. Our proprietary matching algorithm performs the matches within seconds. The more motivated you and the other participants are, the faster you will receive your matches.

What if I don't get any matches?
It can happen but over two-thirds of our participants get at least one match (many get quite a few!) and some events have even had 100% of the participants get a match! If you're real picky and only say “Yes” to one or two people, then it might take additional events to get a match. Our advice is if you're not completely sure whether a person is a match for you or not, just say “Yes” because you never know…give them another chance and they may surprise you. When you attend, you also get our "Make It Right" Assurance Program which means if you don't find at least one person you wish to see again, we will make it right. Your friendly Event Coordinator will be happy to give you some suggestions on how to improve your match rate, so just ask.

What if there aren't any matches, will I be notified?
No. The absence of any match informationon the Display Matches tab of your MatchSmart™ page is your only indication that you do not have any matches. If this happens, don't sweat it. Everyone has a preference, including you! Speed Dating, as with dating in general, is a numbers game. That is why our membership is so valuable. Our memberships assure that you are able to attend any number of events for one low cost. This will also ensure that every month you will have numerous opportunities to meet dozens of eligible, appealing individuals without having to fork over serious time and money.

Who contacts whom?
Once you receive notification of a match, feel free to contact that person immediately. Remember, by the very nature of the match, you know the other person is interested in meeting you!

What if I email or call someone and they don't return my call?
Why not try one more time? Sometimes people go on vacation or don't check their email every day so give it a few days. We encourage everyone to please be courteous and return calls and emails even if you change your mind and don't want to meet that person any more.

How much does a UtahSpeedDating.com event cost?

I don't have a credit card, can I still attend?
Of course. You can pay for your membership or event registration through other simple means. You can use a debit card (VISA or MasterCard) or your PayPal® account. Simply enter your PayPal® information into the appropriate place on the registration page.

How many events can I attend?
As many as is allowed by your membership. Click here to find out how many events are included in each membership–but beware–our memberships are so effective that we lose customers all the time because they find a lasting match through one of our events!

What About Cancellations/Missed Events?
We know you're busy and sometimes things come up. If you feel you cannot attend your scheduled event, it is very important that you contact your Event Coordinator and notify them that you would like to re-schedule. Because attendance is so important for planning purposes, we want to support all of the daters who are able to attend. If you cancel 48 hours or more prior to the starting time of the event, you will not be penalized for cancelling. If, however, you cancel within 48 hours of the start time of the event or do not show to your scheduled event at all, you will be penalized certain membership benefits. Click here to see the details regarding late cancellation/no show penalities. Of course, we would appreciate as much notice as possible so we can make room for someone else. If you have paid the Single Event registration fee, we will gladly transfer that fee to the event of your choice or give you a refund less a $5 cancellation fee.

I wanted to register but it says the event is full, what do I do?
We're sorry! To ensure the best possible experience, each event has a maximum capacity. When the event fills up, the system does not permit any additional registrations for that event. However, we often add people from that event's Waiting List so we encourage you to sign up for that. The link will be shown only when the session your interested in is full.

Can I sign up with a friend?
Of course! In fact, we encourage it. Bring three or more friends with you who register and your Single Event registration is free! However, each person needs to register separately so they can have their own profile and matching possibilities.

What if I still have more questions?
